@@karatekid7640 That doesn't mean every person can afford a new vehicle with higher costs, nor do companies have big budgets to spend on R&D for such norms continuously. Also there are also theories saying all these norms are to decrease the sale of diesel engines and promote the electric lobby...
@@vedantnarvekar4214 yes that's why these bs7 norms shouldn't come before 2029. Government should also reduce tax rates and promote hybrid vehicles as they are more enjoying friendly than electric vehicles but yes it seems they are influenced by some lobbies to exclude hybrid vehicles cause only few companies like Toyota invest significantly in them... That being said these norms are not only for personal vehicles but also for buses and trucks and other grant vehicles and as such they are very important for a better air quality and should also be extended to railways and diesel generator sets etc. We want better air and vehicular emission is but a small though significant part in it. We also need more regulation on construction dust control and industrial pollution control body like EPA which actually work for any significant changes to occur.
I’m an electrical engineer in the solar industry. Let me tell you, the biggest polluter of the air is the coal power plants and the agricultural industry. In India the majority of the power fed in the national grid is from coal. Modern diesel engines do not produce any sort of alarming pollution that the politicians want us to believe. If they are polluting first let them start from their city metro buses and diesel-electric locomotives. Our modern diesel cars are highly tuned to not produce any kind of soot or particulate matter. Next, how is petrol better than diesel? I’m burning twice as much fuel for the same distance with petrol than with diesel. My petrol car gives 10kmpl mileage. My diesel car gives 20kmpl. I’m actually using less fuel to travel the same distance. And diesel not twice as much polluting as petrol. It’s hardly 5-10% more than petrol. But our stupid govt thinks petrol is better than diesel. Also I’m losing my love of driving because the torque from petrol engines is so low I need to change gears 10x more than diesel car. Highway cruising is a pain with petrol engines. Only turbo petrol can match the performance of a modern diesel but it’s too expensive. Our government sucks👎🏻 So many stupid people with not even a single engineer in the advisor board I guess.
No jobs + bad employment policy! Rising prices of everything wheather it is car ,raw material etc!!! And last but not the least 10 year diesel and 15 year petrol rule in a country where people still not have enough money for basic essentials! Seriously pathetic

Major point about unfair taxation of hybrid vehicles. They are our biggest hope and potential for quick change. It's frankly idiotic and reeks of incompetence/malice.
I think it’s more about industry lobbying from the EV makers like Tata, BYD, Mahindra and so on, who want to tax out the competition from hybrids so that they have a clear market advantage for their EVs.

Our government will kill the whole automotive industry in the name of pollution but wll never curb on major pollution sources like coal power plants. And our government will ever encourage its citizens to plant trees on massive scales?
Honestly speaking.... 15 year ban rule is just to collect tax and of no other benefit...it just forces an owner to upgrade for no reason... Govt. wants to reduce carbon emissions by implementing strict laws on vehicles. While govt. give permission to private companies to cut dense forests and make buildings in eco sensitive zones. To make a new eco friendly fuel we need huge research budget which we dont have. Govt. also haven't increased research budget for several years.

Nitin Gadkari being the most impractical transport minister ever, just comparing the technological level of European countries and completely ignoring the purchasing power of Indians. ( Not to be taken in wrong sense, Indians purchasing power is also increasing but still in india car is big investment for middle class people and they can't afford to change cars in such short durations ).Due to Nitin Gadkari, I feel owning a car in India is not less than a headache for middle class people. He needs to be praised for the infrastructure development but also needs to be criticized for his illogical and over fast pace decisions. Also the Govt of India is also at blame for approving the senseless decisions of different organisations, the most common example would be ban of Bs-4 diesel cars during pollution period in Delhi. Just imagine a person buying a Bs-4 diesel car in March or Feb of 2020 and suddenly his/her car becomes an invalid vehicle for Delhi NCR. Also the rule of pre determine of car age on basis of fuel type(10 years for diesel and 15 years of petrol)is an extremely objectionable rule.. I have personally seen some cars in Delhi having validity till 2027/2028 in RC but then a random rule just comes and reduces you vehicle age. In my opinion if a person has payed for a vehicle for 15 years definitely not knowing the new rules. Government is no one to reduce his vehicle life even after paying for 15 years. In indian house holds cars is not just a means of transport but also an emotion for the whole family..so government should rethink over it's baseless decision in favour of public interest.

They are LITRELLY forcing to make the prices of car to go up This will make poor people get off the road so that rich people can enjoy their cars traffic free Nice
They are ferrying 30-40 passengers at least, in one-way, leading to lesser emission, than it would be if everyone were travelling in their own car. Public transport of any kind is always a net positive in terms of easing traffic congestion and reducing pollution
We dont want Govt buses to be bs6 complaint, but the least they can do is maintain them and have a valid Emission certificate. if the govt needs to reduce pollution, they can start from the Govt vehicles which are far beyond their capabilities
Mr Gadakri hates diesel cars at core, it reflects in his statements. In our country where EV Infra is non existent, Hybrids have gazillion taxes, this is stupidity. And with 15 years of ban govt is only promoting to scrap and gives no motivation to maintain your vehicle also impacting resale value.
Also with every new generation of pollution norm, the power and fun factor of an engine reduces compared to previous gen. Its no joke that some decade old engines are powerful and fun.

Have you seen any Japanese car makers complaining? No because there is no such problems for hybrids. 1) You can drive on electric while cat conv. warms up. 2) If you are dragging extra weight on mountain at 7 deg. Batteries can provide extra boost.
One thing that can be done is set 2030 as deadline for BS7, giving automobile industry enough time , thus they wont be able to complain and we'll have a chance to save our diesels, atleast a few of them
Bs6 is enough we don't need bs 7. Or give us free cars. What rubbish. Stop adani power from polluting, it's easier to attach filters to coal plant than 1 crore cars.

I'm not against any Govt. Just giving my opinion... Instead of controlling pollution norms we should go for Hybrid cars tax rebate which consumes less fuel which leads to low pollution. Charger anxiety bhi khatam
8:00 I am totally satisfied with his statement It is not applicable on all cars as all the cars are not made for hilly mountain areas for example if you test an Alto k10 in low temperatures at high altitudes in mountains so doesn't make sense at all because a car like Alto doesn't even goes to the mountains in his whole lifespan
It's also risky because at slopes the cars need power to maintain its position otherwise they would need to use more and more handbrakes. Desi sarkar se tho kya hee expect kare, unme se kaafi logon ko ye hee ni pataa hota how cars work but Europe ki sarkar se ye expected nahi thaa.
They messed up in a way, people were buying cng cars also, they increased the prices of that also. I don't like cng cars but this still is a better option than EV.
Guys this is last time we're ever going to see Diesels, of course they pollute more but they have higher thermal efficiency, they produce less heat, they are more reliable and the best driveability with good torque and that's why governments around the world hate them as people keep driving them. As long as Diesels exist EV sales will never increase. TDCI, TDI, DCI are gone, remaining will pass in the next BS7.
The good investment is to Buy Diesel car now n drive till next 10 years n after BS7 if next yr then automatically old diesel car prices stop depreciation rapidly n u can sell it after use of 5-6 yrs in good amount...it all about Demand & Supply concept.
And that is why we had nehruvian rate of growth since independence and only now it has changed!! Socialist ideology has only made this nation poor and made the people lethargic!

This is ridiculous. The current emissions norms are good for at least another 10 years. The regulatory bodies have found out this (imposing emissions norms on cars) is an easy target and they are milking it and going to town. First of all, the norms for EU 7 are far too strict and impractical. Second, the difference it will make for the environment will be small compared to the efforts needed to achieve it. Three, they are just punishing cars (which is a small contributor overall) for air pollution whereas mining, petroleum and other industries are nowhere near such regulations.
I would disagree with your perspective on the second and third point. The way I am seeing it atleast someone is doing a significant enough change at a country scale. What is the rest of the government doing...? What policies are being made for the other industries? I'm from Delhi. Born in Kerala. I am passionate about cars and bikeS always have been. But everyone has forgotten that not even a month back people were falling unconscious on the roads, people died because they can't afford to go from one air conditioned room to another. @@nitin9013 @nitin9013 For the 2nd point, look at the margin of reduction of each of the pollutants like its going down from 80 to 60 for PM for diesel engines. And what OEMs need to do achieve that will raise the cost quite significantly because OEMs are already doing everything they can to get it to 80. And that point about cold starts, thats such a small portion of a drive and yet they want to punish that? You might say these gains may be small but on a nation wide or on a global scale its considerable, but similarly on a national or a global scale, there are far bigger contributors to air pollution like mining, space industry etc who need to be regulated first. And regarding the condition in Delhi, I feel for you guys but vehicles are not the culprits for that... its the stubble burning. If they are really serious about emission norms and air pollution, why is there no clamp down on stubble burning? And to add to my 2nd point, why dont these norms, even the current BS 6.2 norms apply to buses and trucks?! What they emit oxygen is it? Why are only passenger vehicles regulated? When in reality, buses and trucks run longer distances and spend more time on the road running and more importantly have emissions far worse than the current cars and bikes. I'll tell you why, because passenger vehicles are the easy target. And fourth point, these regulatory bodies be it EU or BS, they need to come up and provide the alternate solution and not just say "you cant run these engines". They should do the R&D, develop the technology and give it OEMs and say "here you go, this is how you reduce emissions. Now implement this in your vehicles" Anyone can ban anything. Doesnt mean its right/correct. What they are doing now is similar to if a teacher continuously marked an answer as the wrong answer to a question but refused to teach what the correct answer was.

@@kc4276 takes too much cost space and weight 1. Already GV/hyry boot loses 100L (350L vs 250L) between hybrid and ice. PHEV will be even smaller boot space, so the idea of using ICE on long trips is moot because boot cannot accommodate luggage for the trip in the first place. Same issue with FCEVs also, long range but no boot space to make use of the range on trips 2. That’s just the battery, you still need OBC, DCDC, BMS, motor, all of this junk is in the front in ev’s where engine was. You can’t put it in front anymore. Anywhere else and service will be a nightmare. Just look up Camry/lexus battery access, while rear seat has to be ripped open. 3. All this drastically increases weight, Nexon EV is 70kg more than ICE after removing engine and ancillaries. If you keep it, it will exceed harrier weight (1700kg) just for Nexon. Handling and suspension goes for a toss 4. Since PHEVs have smaller battery, and mostly no liquid cooling, the battery degradation will be worse than EV. A 250km range Nexon EV is cycled once per week in my 40km per day usage. A PHEV with 40km range will be fully exhausted everyday. I’ll be putting cycles 7x faster on a PHEV which means less longevity. 40x1500 cycles = 60000km. 250x1500 cycles = 375K km 5. PHEVs don’t have DCFC support, so most of the public charging infra is useless for PHEVs. And PHEVs sales do not improve infra for ev’s because ev’s benefit from fast charging - which PHEVs don’t have - and PHEVs can only slow charge - which is not viable for ev’s. You see the problem here? 6. Since PHEVs can’t fast charge, on long trips, you’ll have worse mileage than normal hybrid or even ICE. You can charge if you are staying at a hotel overnight but that’s about it. Even in city, there have been times when I’ve charged at fast charger just because I was already at a mall with charger and I can charge while shopping. With PHEV you can’t. You can slow chargers - but that takes 7-8h which you won’t be spending at any mall or parking other than at homes These are just the technical challenges, with the kind of discipline Indians have, they won’t even bother to charge the cars and run on ICE mode which is worse for emissions - same engine hauling 1700kg car vs 1300kg means less mileage and more emissions than ICE model of same car And it’s not we who lack discipline, even the westerners don’t bother to charge either - so imagining Indians doing it is impossible. www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-54170207.amp www.transportenvironment.org/discover/plug-hybrids-new-emissions-scandal-tests-show-higher-pollution-claimed/ It’s just not viable for the size, price and the weight of cars sold here. In west, you can downsize the engine from a I6/V8 to I4 (what Volvo did) to save space and weight But the same isn’t possible on Indian cars which are already I3/I4

When they do something that doesnt favour the environment, unless it becomes a big enough issue, they'll go ahead with it.

This has very simple solution. Make taxes on new cars zero.
If our govt is Environment lover then why cant Govt remove old buses and old trucks which are running since decades. Why cant they fine industries and factories which are polluting rivers and lakes. We really need a new Transport minister who can really understand the consumer.
Ikr double standards at it's finest. I still see govt buses that push out smoke like a factory and they want us to have cleaner cars.
@@abhinavmj1613 People are not willing to pay for it, if this will be done then the Price of Public transport tickets will drastically increase and same People who are advising this will start to cry !
@@gouravxh2631 bruh what kind of logic is this?
Old buses which are used in service can be replaced by petrol and ev buses. Many state govt have replaced old buses with ev bus for inter city connectivity and petrol buses for longer routes but this number is not significant.
I want to add one more thing , daily I see dozens of vehicles which spread so much smoke , has the owner been fined for using such type of vehicle?
There should be a rule for vehicles like this.
Ur papa will pay for it
Potentially puting Indian car makers into disadvantage who are recently puting their profit into RnD....where's other companies are way ahead in research to produce bs7 cars with better quality.......what abt govt buses...? They ar making life harder for 2nd tier cities where people buy 2nd hand cars and transport vehicles...for income.
@@Vishnu-B golden comment 🥇
I would disagree with your perspective on the second and third point. The way I am seeing it atleast someone is doing a significant enough change at a country scale. What is the rest of the government doing...? What policies are being made for the other industries? I'm from Delhi. Born in Kerala. I am passionate about cars and bikeS always have been. But everyone has forgotten that not even a month back people were falling unconscious on the roads, people died because they can't afford to go from one air conditioned room to another. Bas baato baato me gharmi bht hogyi h, cyclones bht ho rhe h , flood bht aarhe h bolte jao. Kyu ho rha h? Yeh taboo question h aajkal.
Agree.
@@nitin9013 Nitin ji?
Now implement this in your vehicles"
Anyone can ban anything. Doesnt mean its right/correct. What they are doing now is similar to if a teacher continuously marked an answer as the wrong answer to a question but refused to teach what the correct answer was.

Happily owning a diesel x7
@@FadilRahman. I don't think so. At current rate it won't take much time for diesel vehicle regulations in delhi to go pan india.
After that no matter how much someone loves diesel , nobody is gonna buy a a second hand vehicle which he cannot even drive on road .
May be some rich car collector but that's it.
@@memorizinguniverse4247 Only 7.5% of the population in our country own a car . Gradually when rest of em' start owning one especially from the second hand market most will always go for a diesel no matter what.
And as far as the NCR rule whether would be applied across India or not... there's still a lot of time left for it
@@FadilRahman. Delhi NCR is simply overpopulated with more than 3.40 Cr people with more cars on road and add to that stubble burning is the cherry on a cake. I am not saying that pollution is solely from cars but from surrounding industries and higher population. So it is highly unlikely for Delhi emission norms to go pan India, most of the Indian metros are not even half the Delhi Population.

@@nou7401 The environmental and human damage caused by electric cars (rare earth mineral mining, slave labour used in the Congo for mining cobalt, disposal of lithium batteries etc.) is leagues above the environmental damage caused by ICE vehicles. Furthermore, we still produce the majority of our electricity from thermal power plants.
You may feel good while driving EVs, but the dirty work is being done by someone else/somewhere else.
@@kc4276 takes too much cost space and weight
1. Already GV/hyry boot loses 100L (350L vs 250L) between hybrid and ice. PHEV will be even smaller boot space, so the idea of using ICE on long trips is moot because boot cannot accommodate luggage for the trip in the first place. Same issue with FCEVs also, long range but no boot space to make use of the range on trips
Handling and suspension goes for a toss
4. 250x1500 cycles = 375K km
You can slow chargers - but that takes 7-8h which you won’t be spending at any mall or parking other than at homes
These are just the technical challenges, with the kind of discipline Indians have, they won’t even bother to charge the cars and run on ICE mode which is worse for emissions - same engine hauling 1700kg car vs 1300kg means less mileage and more emissions than ICE model of same car
And it’s not we who lack discipline, even the westerners don’t bother to charge either - so imagining Indians doing it is impossible. www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-54170207.amp
www.transportenvironment.org/discover/plug-hybrids-new-emissions-scandal-tests-show-higher-pollution-claimed/
It’s just not viable for the size, price and the weight of cars sold here. In west, you can downsize the engine from a I6/V8 to I4 (what Volvo did) to save space and weight
But the same isn’t possible on Indian cars which are already I3/I4
@@kc4276 FYI the report is from USA and tesla record in USA has proven in last ten years that cars driven for 200K miles (3.2lakh km) have just 10% range drop
The report already counts 10% range drop over 2.4lakh km of the vehicle life
5% mileage drop is also counted for ice cars.
You think companies are fools to give 8y warranty if they knew beforehand that battery will be changed in 5-6y itself?
Because govt "cares about the environment" in a way that forces responsibility on everyone else.
When they do something that doesnt favour the environment, unless it becomes a big enough issue, they'll go ahead with it.
Still so slow on solving public transport, still having so many old outdated buses that are running beyond last leg.
But of course private transport = bad and we must penalise manufacturers for "ruining the environment".
Edit - lets not forget how euro norms just made the diesel problems worse. These legislators pretending they know what they're talking about is just problematic.
Upon that just saying "you will comply from this date fully" also doesnt totally make sense.
Europe pretends to care about the environment, and India isn't even bothered to do anything but copy what western countries write on paper.

All are saying that companies are doing cost cutting at never seen before rate and even compromising quality. One of these person is involved in Mahindra manufacturing he himself told me that price has risen but quality is shit now.
If government really cares about environment they would also add similar norms on industries but they dont because the government is paid enough from these industries. They are behind auto vehicles because this is how they can earn more and more money by scrapping old vehicles ,earn RTO and other taxes from them etc. etc.
